Mime Time at the WI

Yorkshire Weekly Herald, 8 March 1935

The National Federation of Women’s Institutes (more regularly known as the WI) organised a one-day School of Mime in York. The reviewer held that the day was a success and that the WI were justified to have gone ahead with the event.

The Yorkshire Women’s Institute have in recent years been giving more attention to mime, and at last year’s drama competitions there were more mime entries than ever before.” The adjudicator at last year’s drama competition had noted that considerably more tuition was required in miming.

The day-school, therefore, was intended to fill that gap and it was anticipated that the future drama festivals would have not only a higher number of entries in the mime categories, but that they would also be of a higher standard.

You might like to have a look at this link for Kickstarter as it is the way that I will be launching my Irene Mawer biography early in 2025.  Many people are not familiar with it, but it is perfectly legit and not a scam!  I hope you enjoy browsing around it.
