Peggy Evans, Worthing

For a while, mime was quite popular in Worthing – a seaside town on the south coast of England. The person promoting it was Peggy Evans – a graduate of the Ginner-Mawer School of Dance and Drama.

This newspaper article is based on Miss Mawer’s own words and views, which can be seen in her book The Art of Mime, and which she lectured about on a regular basis.

I think that Miss Evans has put Irene’s thoughts into her own words, and she has made a good job of it. I find this article much easier to understand than the way Miss Mawer expresses the ideas in her book.

The article goes on to say that the Worthing School of Dramatic Art has now added mime to its curriculum, and special instruction is being given by Miss Peggy Evans, a representative of the Institute of Mime, of which the President is Miss Irene Mawer.

Many of you will know that for the past five years I have been researching Irene Mawer and the Ginner-Mawer School of Dance and Drama.  I am rapidly approaching the time when I hope to publish – early in 2025.
