OLDEST FORM OF DRAMATIC ART, Hassocks Townswomen Learn About The Mime

The evening meeting of the Townswomen’s Guild followed the usual format for the Institute of Mime lecture-demonstrations, with Miss Butler first of all giving a thorough explanation of the history of mime, followed by a demonstration of the art.  Her performances included an “Egyptian priest praying in a temple, a strolling minstrel playing in a baronial hall in the Mediaeval Age, and a love scene”.

Throughout the newspaper article, Miss Butler is never given her first name – I wonder if she is Peggy Butler, from Scotland (and who has been mentioned in previous blog posts)?
