OLDEST ART IN THE WORLD: perfect control needed, says York speaker

In this tiny newspaper clipping, Irene Mawer is quoted as saying that ‘the art of mime is infinitely more difficult than the art of  spoken acting.’  Now there is a debatable point – what do you think about that?

In the following paragraph she goes on to say that ’the basis of mimetic art lies in the knowledge that one’s body is a sensitive instrument…’ it’s no good, that phrase always reminds me of the 1980’s comedian who took the mickey out of mimes with the phrase “My body is my tool”.  I can’t take this newspaper article seriously with that in my head.
