Where is this Lion?

This photo was taken in the 1950s, and I would like to find out where the lion is.  Irene Mawer sat on the back of the lion, which is full-size.  The lion is wearing a magnificent crown, and has an unusual star underneath his chin.  It could be anywhere in the world!
