Institute of Mime, Annual General Meeting June 1936

The Institute of Mime, Annual General Meeting

This single paragraph in the London edition of the Dancing Times is simply to announce the Annual General Meeting of the Institute of Mime, to be held on Sunday, June 14th, at 8pm, in the Washington Hotel, Curzon St, London SW. A quick check of the internet today, shows that this is a fine hotel in the swanky district of Mayfair, one of London’s most exclusive neighbourhoods.

Two days previous to the AGM, Michel Saint-Denis had given a lecture under the auspices of the Institute of Mime, and four days after this AGM the Ginner-Mawer School gave a large performance at the Vaudeville Theatre.

Please see the (future) blog post dated 18 June 1935 for a full review of this performance.

I contacted the Washington Hotel via their website contact page on 8th September 2021. They were kind enough to reply, but unfortunately their records don’t go back that far.

So that Miss Mawer can more easily be found by the ‘bots’, please comment and share.  Thank you.
