1911! Irene would have been 18 years old and possibly about to fall in love for the first time…

She was due to appear in the play His Excellency the Governor at the Town Hall in Buckingham. It was this play, performed again a few months later, where she starred with one Robert Dale. He was standing in for another cast member who was unable to perform due to illness, and it was very possibly the same Robert Dale that she went on to marry a few years later.

In this particular newspaper clipping, the item states that the play “will be performed by well-known Amateurs’, so it would seem that Irene was already on her way.
